This Sunday we come to one of final great liturgical Sundays of the year until Christ the King Sunday in November: Trinity Sunday. Each year after the Sunday of Pentecost the Church designates the following Sunday as a time to reflect on the God revealed in the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus: that the true God is Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Far from an abstract doctrine best left for academics to ponder, the Church's dogma that God is Trinity has vast implications for how we understand the nature of God and for what a truly human life, "imaging" God, should be.
