"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.” (John 3:16 – NRSV). For many of us this verse was the first verse of Scripture that we memorized. We have seen it written on billboards and bumper stickers. On this Fourth Sunday of Lent, the lectionary offers this well known passage for us to consider as we prepare for Easter.
